Ray Patel

As President of Capital Improvements & Construction, Ray is responsible for supervising all renovation and new development construction processes for Vivid Capital, including permitting, architectural and interior design review, construction contracts, FF&E procurement, and construction oversight. Ray’s complementary background in both engineering and business allows him to find efficiencies in design, as well as from both a functional and cost perspective. His problem-solving mindset gives him the ability to create unique solutions that allow a project to move from a conceptual idea to an executed reality.

Prior to co-founding Vivid Capital, Ray joined SiLa Developments as a Director, where he still oversees a variety of construction projects, spanning from small suburban infill developments to large urban multi-family and hotel developments. However, Ray has always been an entrepreneur at heart, stemming back to the development of his family’s first motel property in Williamson County in 2001. Years later, he went on to featured on ABC’s hit TV show Shark Tank in 2014 and opened his first Tom + Chee restaurant in Nashville in 2015. Ray’s unique ability to problem solve allowed him to quickly rise and become the leading franchisee in the system. His passion for helping others enabled him to play a consulting role for the brand, mentoring other franchisees to achieve similar success.

Ray holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Tennessee and an MBA from Middle Tennessee State University. During his successful and diverse career, Ray has built a broad network of relationships with manufacturers, vendors, distributors, engineers, architects, and city officials, allowing him to champion our capital improvement and construction projects on time and under budget.
